Leadership

"Breaking the Mold: A New Vision for Student Achievement" is an innovative leadership development program brings together teachers, students, administrators, support staff, and community members in project-based action learning teams. The teams work on technology-rich projects designed to enhance student achievement. Breaking the Mold rests on the notion that leadership is best pursued in the midst of real, relevant, and necessary work.  In the third year, a new focus for leadership, Leadership Challenge, was developed to meet the leadership challenges of principals.
In addition to these two leadership initiatives, Project TELL developed two
different models for building leadership among teachers.  These are detailed below.  There is also a description of a student leadership program.

In one teacher leader model, teachers are given opportunities to develop skills and best practices.  Emerging technologies empower teachers in two ways: 1) Communication through technology dramatically expands and changes the relationship among people within and outside an organization, and 2) Teacher involvement in training and coaching their peers helps them to develop their skills, increases peer networking, and improves curriculum development. For a synopsis of this model, see Executive Summary.
For the full version, see Teacher Leader Model.

The second teacher leader model emphasizes integrating technology into all K-12 curricular areas and provides the level of support necessary to effectively use technology by emphasizing leadership development throughout the school system at multiple levels.  The model emphasizes an expanded view of literacy that includes technological literacy, information literacy, and production literacy.  For a description of this model, see  100% Professional Development Model.

Project TELL has also initiated an SOS desk to develop students as technology leaders and to support teachers with the use of technology in their classrooms and computer labs. Students help with software, hardware and presentations.  For a description of SOS, see
